Plan journeys from Zalea by bus, or connect with the C-2 train at Pizarra station. Some village services must be booked in advance, so always check the live timetable before leaving.
Local & regional services
Take the M-330 towards Málaga. Current departures from Zalea are shown at 08:05, 09:50 and 17:15 from Monday to Saturday, with 19:05 on Sundays. The journey is approximately 45 minutes.
Use the M-104B demand-responsive service between Zalea and Pizarra. It runs on weekdays within the published service window and must be requested through the MUFMI app or by calling 951 650 450.
Take the M-330 from Zalea Cruce to Hospital Valle del Guadalhorce, then change to the M-345 for Cártama Pueblo or Cártama Estación. The connection is limited and mainly useful on weekdays, so plan both legs before travelling.
Use the same hospital interchange, continuing on the M-345 to Coín. The M-345 currently operates weekday departures only, and waiting time between services can be substantial.
Take the direct M-330 to Málaga Bus Station, then change to an Avanza service for Marbella. Search and buy the second journey using Avanza for your chosen travel date, allowing comfortable time between buses.
Use the M-104B demand-responsive village bus to reach Pizarra railway station for C-2 trains. The service operates on weekdays within its published window and must be requested through the MUFMI app or by calling 951 650 450. Check that the booked bus gives you enough time to catch your train.
Take the M-330 from Zalea to Málaga Bus Station, then change to the EMT Airport Express A. The airport bus serves Málaga Bus Station and carries luggage; allow plenty of time between services and before your flight.
Cercanías Málaga
First take the pre-booked M-104B from Zalea, drive or use a taxi to Pizarra station. From there, line C-2 runs through Cártama to Málaga.
Pizarra is the nearest railway station to the villa and the starting point for these train journeys. Use the C-2 platform towards Málaga for Cártama and the city.
Board a C-2 train towards Málaga and leave at Cártama. Note that Cártama railway station is in Estación de Cártama, not Cártama Pueblo.
Coín does not have a railway station. Travel by C-2 to Cártama, then continue by a suitable local bus or taxi. Because connections are limited, the bus journey from Zalea may be simpler.
Take the C-2 directly into Málaga. María Zambrano is best for the main railway and bus stations; stay on to Centro-Alameda for the historic centre, harbour and central shopping streets.
Marbella does not have a railway station. Take the C-2 to María Zambrano, walk to the adjacent Málaga Bus Station and continue by Avanza coach. Allow time between the train and coach.
Take the C-2 from Pizarra to María Zambrano, then change to the C-1 towards Fuengirola and leave at Aeropuerto. Allow a generous connection and extra time before your flight.

Market mornings
Browse produce, crafts, clothes, antiques and Andalusian flavours at four very different markets—two on the coast, one inland and one beneath Málaga’s magnificent iron-and-glass roof.
One of the coast’s largest open-air markets: Tuesday for clothing, produce, leather goods and household finds; Saturday for antiques and second-hand treasures.
A colourful Marbella-area market for fashion, crafts, ceramics, accessories and fresh produce, a short stroll uphill from the marina.
A producer-led Sunday market with seasonal fruit and vegetables, olive oil, bread, honey, cheese and other foods from the Guadalhorce Valley.
Málaga’s landmark covered market is the place for seafood, cured meats, olives, fruit and quick tapas beneath its colourful stained-glass window.
Market times can change for public holidays, local fiestas and seasonal arrangements. Check the relevant council or tourism page before making a special journey.
Walk, ride, explore
From a gentle local viewpoint walk to demanding mountain terrain, the Guadalhorce Valley offers memorable days outdoors. Times and distances are approximate; always check current trail and weather conditions before setting out.
A gentle, officially waymarked village-to-village walk with very little height gain — a friendly introduction to the Guadalhorce countryside.
A highly rated local route above Pizarra, combining pine woodland, a narrow rock passage and sweeping views beside the El Santo monument.
A serious mountain day above El Chorro, with sustained climbing, rugged limestone and superb views over the reservoirs and Gaitanes Gorge. Best for experienced, well-equipped hikers.
On two wheels
Mostly level riverside tracks through the valley, ideal for relaxed cycling, gravel bikes and family outings. Pick a comfortable out-and-back section and enjoy the rural landscape.
Create an easy coastal ride using the Costa del Sol’s promenades and cycle-friendly sections. Some stretches require dismounting or diverting, so check the chosen section before riding.
